ARBD Care Managers Share the 3-Step Enablement Model with the Shropshire Recovery Partnership

This month, ARBD Care Home Managers Milan and Emma delivered an impactful talk for the Shropshire Recovery Partnership, shedding light on Alcohol-Related Brain Damage (ARBD) and our hallmark 3-Step Enablement Model. With over 40 years of specialised ARBD care, ARBD Care is dedicated to helping individuals reclaim independence through this progressive, supportive approach.

The 3-Step Enablement Model is at the core of our mission. It supports individuals from high-dependence to increased autonomy through carefully structured, person-centered stages. Starting with Stabilisation, the model first addresses the individual’s immediate physical and emotional needs to ensure safety and trust. In the Enablement phase, individuals work with care teams to regain critical life skills—such as self-care, communication, and cognitive abilities—that nurture both independence and resilience. The final Maintenance phase emphasises sustainable self-management, empowering individuals to confidently rejoin their communities with the tools they need to thrive.

The presentation underscored how each stage of the model is tailored to meet individuals where they are, providing the scaffolding needed for genuine, lasting progress. Milan and Emma’s passion was evident as they shared how structured support, personalised care, and a gradual return to autonomy allow individuals to reclaim their lives despite the challenges ARBD may bring.

Their visit was very well received and the Shropshire Recover Partnership had some great feedback from staff about how useful the training was to them and that quite a few new starters in the room were grateful for the training.
