Second Chef at Serenita, Jay, took on an extraordinary challenge at the Big Hike in the Brecon Beacons, embarking on a gruelling 26-mile marathon over 3000ft hills, rivers, and fences. The race conditions were incredibly tough, with rain, gales, and even hail making an appearance – quite unusual for Wales in June!
Despite the harsh weather, Jay’s determination and endurance shone through. He completed the marathon in an impressive 7 hours and 32 minutes. Out of 240 participants, Jay secured a remarkable 10th place finish.
His achievement goes beyond just the physical feat. Jay’s efforts also raised an incredible £700 in aid of Cancer Research UK. This charity is dedicated to saving lives through research, prevention, and treatment of cancer. By funding groundbreaking research, they work tirelessly to find new ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer, ultimately aiming to ensure that more people survive the disease.
Let’s celebrate Jay’s amazing accomplishment and the positive impact he’s made through his fundraising for such an important cause!
